Admission Committee further informed, "We also may be extending interviews earlier this year." "As always, we encourage you to review our website soon and submit your application as early as possible within the round you choose to apply." advised the admission committee

Essay 2: What are your career aspirations? How will your education at Stanford help you achieve them?
Essay 3: Answer two of the four questions below. Tell us not only what you did but also how you did it. What was the outcome? How did people respond? Only describe experiences that have occurred during the last three years.
* Option A: Tell us about a time when you built or developed a team whose performance exceeded expectations.
* Option B: Tell us about a time when you made a lasting impact on your organization.
* Option C: Tell us about a time when you motivated others to support your vision or initiative.
* Option D: Tell us about a time when you went beyond what was defined, established, or expected.
Stanford GSB Advise on Essay Length
Your answers for all of the essay questions cannot exceed 1,800 words. Each of you has your own story to tell, so please allocate the 1,800 words among all of the essays in the way that is most effective for you. According to Stanford GSB, you should feel comfortable to write as much or as little as you like on any essay question, as long as you do not exceed 1,800 words total. However, school provides some guidelines below as a starting point:

Upcoming Events at Stanford Graduate School of Business
According to a post on Stanford MBA Admission Blog, there are two upcoming events at GSB that you might be interested in.
The first one The xxFactor: Women Changing the World event will be held on 16 May. This event is hosted by the Women in Management club, the alumnae Women's Initiative Network, and the MBA Admission Office."This conference is geared toward women who are interested in applying to business school. This year's conference will focus on who attends business school and why, what kinds of opportunities are available for MBA graduates, and why experiential learning is transformational." informs the post.

Another event Many Voices: Perspectives on Diversity is hosted jointly by the Asian Society, Black Business Students Association, Hispanic Business Students Association, and the MBA Admission Office. According to the post this event will provide the opportunity to future aspirants to meet GSB alumni, students, faculty, and staff, and to gain insight into GSB's admission process. The event will be held on 17 May.
Applications for the above event are due 10 April. More information is available here.
The school hopes that by seeing the range of ideas and talent within GSB community might just help aspirants envision how they could make a difference at the GSB.

Stanford: Round 2 Interview Invitations
In his post on Stanford Admissions Blog, Director of Admissions Derrick Bolton informed, "As of this morning, we have invited 275 second-round candidates to interview. We will extend an additional 100-125 interview invitations to second-round candidates in the next couple of weeks."
He further informed that during that same period, the school plans to interview some of the first-round candidates who accepted spots on the waitlist without having interviewed.

Stanford Graduate School of Business: Employment Report for the MBA Class of 2008
Stanford shared their 2008 Employment Report statistics which highlight the successes of Stanford MBA.
Stanford GSB's 2008 Employment Report conforms to the MBA Career Services Council Standards for Reporting MBA Employment Statistics.
Stanford mentions on its website: To assist in comparing these statistics with non-CSC compliant MBA Employment Reports, please note that the Stanford GSB has not included relocation expense reimbursement, tuition reimbursement, and loan forgiveness in any of its past Employment Reports. In 2008, inclusion of these items would have increased Stanford GSB median compensation by $7,000.

Stanford's take on the relation between the interview invitation and the chance of admission
In his post on Stanford Admissions Blog, Director of Admissions Derrick Bolton answers the question that has been bothering many aspirants - whether there is a relationship between the timing of your interview invitation and your chance of admission?
He states, " Please be assured that your likelihood of admission bears no relationship to when you receive your interview invitation; the timing of your invitation simply depends on when we review your file--and there is no pattern to application review."
He further says, "No matter when you receive your invitation to interview, you have the same chance of admission as any other candidate"
Regarding the interview invites for Round 1 the Director wrote, " Interviews for Round 1 applicants start as soon as possible after the application deadline-- typically early November--and last through mid January. We expect to send Round 1 interview invitations pretty regularly, every business day or so, through mid December. Even during Stanford's winter shutdown (22 December 2008 through 5 January 2009) we continue to read feverishly but tend to bundle invitations and send them every few days. (One reason for the bundling is that our building is unheated for the entire shutdown and we are thin-blooded Californians!)

Option 3: Tell us about a time when you tried to reach a goal or complete a task that was challenging, difficult, or frustrating.
